For the first time in God knows how many months, I actually took a whole day off work! What a wonderful Sunday! I did this drawing from a statue at The Art Institute of Chicago. (Well, it's from a photo of a statue. We were with a few friends so I didn't do any drawings in the museum.) I REALLY needed the day off and am so glad I did! (will try to do this more often!)

Sunday Morning Figure Drawing

It felt great to get back to figure drawing today after another long hiatus from it. Later in the week I will be starting to sketch the skeleton instead. I really hope to start going much more regularly. (I've said this several times in the past, but this time I really mean it! haha) This will be quite interesting to watch my drawings improve. It still feels like I have a long way to go.

Sunday Figure Drawing

Here are some figure drawings from this past Sunday.

They were too large for a scanner, so this was the best I could do with my camera.

For current students last night at The Drawing Workshop, there was a bittersweet memorial for Margaret which included some figure drawing. What a lovely tribute to her life. She is greatly missed.

I added more shading to these two drawings in Photoshop. These were drawn on newsprint.

On a side note, I feel VERY rusty with figure drawing and am planning on going at least once a month. (haven't done it in about 4 months) I hope to post my progress here.
