It feels like it's been a looong time since I posted anything! So here are two sketches. The top one I did on the train yesterday and the bottom was a guy at Starbucks. (No, I'm not a coffee drinker, but their mocha frappuccinos are the only way for me to get through my night class!)

WIA Blog

It's October and there are plenty of exhibits and events going on around Chicago. To keep track of them all, please visit the Women In Animation blog. A few of us are trying to get some groups together to go see some screenings. If you have any additional screenings/events you'd like us to post, please let us know.

If anyone's interested in WIA, we do have a meeting this Wednesday night at Columbia College. Info's on the blog. Oh, by the way, you don't have to be a woman to attend. ;)

Random Sketches

Whew! Catherine and I just finished some large back-to-back freelance projects yesterday and are really happy to have a little break! At first I thought I’d really have to give my hand a break from drawing for a day, but couldn’t. I just had to draw for myself.

Midnight Escape

Well, I did this as a sketch over a week ago and finally got around to PhotoShopping it. I'm calling it done for now. (haven't had time to tweak anything yet) I won't have time to revisit it for a week or so. So, if anyone has any critiques, please feel free to share them. ^,^

On another note, Catherine just realized that we've had our blogs for exactly a year now (on our half birthday!)

Gorilla

A group of us were at Lincoln Park Zoo this afternoon sketching animals. I was sketching a very large gorilla a few feet away on the other side of the glass. She turned her head and looked at me sketching her. Then she turned around and sat right in front of me, head resting in her hands, staring at me through the glass, perfectly still. Soon, the rest of our sketch group gathered around and we attracted a crowd. Only the gorilla's eyes moved as a crowd quickly formed around us. It was soooo cool! Unfortunately, I get nervous when people are around me when I'm trying to draw, so this is all I got before she left.

We're probably going back to the zoo next Friday if anyone's interested. Though, I can't promise I can make a gorilla pose like that again. Sorry! ;)
